Tony Evers has served as Governor of Wisconsin since 2019. Before becoming governor, he served as Wisconsin's State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He has governed in a divided government context, frequently vetoing Republican-passed legislation.

Republican

Rebecca Kleefisch served as Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor from 2011 to 2019 under Governor Scott Walker. She ran for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2022, losing in the primary. She is among the leading Republican candidates for governor in 2026 as Governor Tony Evers faces reelection. A former television news anchor and small business owner, she has built her platform on school choice, fiscal conservatism, and opposition to what she calls government overreach.
