Jon Ossoff has represented Georgia in the U.S. Senate since winning a January 2021 runoff election. He is the youngest U.S. Senator currently serving and the first Democrat to represent Georgia in the Senate since 2005.
Governor
Republican
Brad Raffensperger has served as Georgia's Secretary of State since 2019. He gained national attention for refusing pressure from former President Trump and his allies to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results, actions that earned him bipartisan recognition for electoral integrity and significant backlash within his own party. He is among the leading candidates for Georgia's open 2026 governor's race as Governor Brian Kemp is term-limited.
Democratic
Stacey Abrams is a Georgia Democrat, voting rights activist, and attorney who ran for governor in 2018 and 2022, losing narrowly both times. She founded Fair Fight Action, a national voting rights organization, and is widely credited with helping build the Democratic coalition that flipped Georgia's presidential and Senate results in 2020 and 2021. She is among the leading potential Democratic candidates for Georgia's open 2026 governor's race.
